Magic Power

A brief description of various levels of skills of mages. Most mages need a magical conduit (most often a wand) except in cases of elemental magic, shape shifting and alchemy. Most mages also need to use verbally spoken spells.

Beginner / Apprentice

They know how to to use magic, but only have the basic knowledge and skill. They are equivalent of high school students.

Learned Mage

They know much more than the beginner mages. They still lack a lot of skill. They mainly know a lot about magic generally without really specializing in anything. They are equivalent of college students.

Master of Magic

Mages need a lot of education; they need to hone their skills and specialize in something. Equivalent to a master's degree.

Archmage

Extremely hard to achieve. The skill required is equivalent to a PhD. It also requires an immense power to back this level of magic skill.
